County Legislature Gets Update on YOU Project

The Dutchess County Legislature was updated on Thursday, April 4, on the Youth Opportunity Union project, getting a look at the latest renderings and cost estimates for the multi-use facility.

Legislators were informed of the public engagement efforts that have helped shape the project as well as the fundraising initiatives being undertaken.

In addition to the county's pledge of $25 million, the project has received a $1.05 million Congressional grant through U.S. Rep. Pat Ryan, with the support of U.S. Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand.

The county is applying for additional federal funds as well as state funding this year. County officials are also meeting with a full range of public education partners — including local school districts, BOCES, and Dutchess Community College — to obtain additional funding.

County legislators said they appreciated the update. You can see the full presentation here.
